Jahyung Langit Lee
TV, Radio, Music Producer
I have spent many years creating educational documentary programs
at Korean Educational Broadcasting System (EBS).
My main areas of interest are
#environment, #animals, #socialdiscrimination, and #women, #Art, #Music
and I have actively incorporated these topics into the programs I’ve produced.
When creating programs, I focus on three key aspects:
-
Is there something new or informative? (Educational and informational aspect)
-
Is it visually enjoyable? (Aesthetic aspect)
-
Does it avoid discriminatory expressions or perspectives?
Now, I’d like to introduce the TV programs I’ve worked on.

#2024 #Directing #PD Appearance
#Labor Documentary #Social Issues #RunningTime_45mins
"PD Log" is a program where a PD who usually works behind the camera takes on various jobs to experience them firsthand. The show aims to highlight social issues, vanishing traditional cultural arts, and the spirit of craftsmanship, delivering messages that can only be felt through personal experience.
Through PD Log, I aimed to go beyond simply introducing different professions—I wanted to shed light on various social issues facing Korean society, such as regional inequality, perceptions of disability, environmental destruction, and the loss of animal habitats. By highlighting the people who are actively working to address these problems, I hoped to offer a glimpse of the direction our society could move toward.
At the same time, I tried not to lose sight of what makes a good story: entertainment, emotion, and a sense of novelty.
01. Poomba Never Dies! 각설이는 죽지 않는다
#Street Performer #Poomba #Clown #Korean Stand-Up Comedian #Music
#Rural Area #Regional Decline #Korean Traditional Culture #Clown
In each episode, a PD steps into a unique workplace, experiencing the job firsthand and revealing the true value of earning a living—this is the concept behind EBS’s groundbreaking labor documentary. The upcoming episode titled "The Gakseori Never Dies," airing on Monday the 29th at 9:55 PM on EBS1, will spotlight the vibrant lives and stories of gakseori, the spirited street performers of our time. At a local festival, a gakseori—a traditional street performer dressed in rags—entertains the crowd with comical and lively gestures while selling goods and earning tips. It’s a job that clearly isn’t easy, but one person dared to take on the challenge: PD Lee Ja-hyung, a 10-year veteran producer at EBS and an active singer-songwriter. With a personal taste leaning toward R&B and jazz, and a reserved personality that lacks even a hint of playfulness, PD Lee’s attempt at becoming a gakseori was, as expected, a rough and bumpy journey.

02. Strange Teacher and the Special Kindergarten
이상한 선생님과 특별한 어린이집
#InclusiveKindergarten #Coexistence #Autism #ADHD
An inclusive daycare center is a place where children with and without disabilities live and learn together in a shared environment. Each integrated class is staffed by both a lead teacher and a special education teacher. Regardless of ability, all children attend the same classes and spend time together in the same spaces. A day at this special daycare begins in an ordinary way—with the arrival of the children. Unlike a typical school with a fixed schedule, arrivals happen continuously between 9 and 10 a.m. Lee Eun-joo, a 25-year veteran special education teacher and PD Lee’s mentor for the day, dashes around holding the hands of children in both arms, managing the hectic start. Meanwhile, PD Lee, determined to win over the children, shows up confidently with carefully prepared name tags and cute hairpins. But things quickly go sideways. Her clumsy craft skills draw complaints from the kids, and she even ends up making one of them cry. Will PD Lee be able to bond with the children and successfully experience the world of daycare teachers?

#Endangered Species #Coexistence
In the "PD Log" wildlife episode, the PD experiences the role of a wildlife rehabilitator. The episode explores the destruction of animal habitats, injuries, and deaths caused by urban development. It examines how blind development threatens wildlife and considers the impact of these threats on humans. By directly rescuing wildlife, the episode delves into the joys and sorrows of wildlife rescuers who struggle daily between humans and animals.

04. An Idol who Hear with Heart, Big Ocean! 심장으로 듣는 아이돌, 빅오션
#DeafIdol #KpopGroup #IdolManagerExperience #BigOcean
In this episode, I had the opportunity to become the manager of Big Ocean, the world's first deaf idol group. Big Ocean has shown that having a hearing impairment doesn’t mean one can't sing and dance, offering hope and inspiration. This episode takes a closer look at the daily life of their manager, who wishes to grow and rise alongside them. Additionally, I experience the inner workings of the idol industry by planning and preparing for their year-end performance together. I hope that people view disabilities not as something to be overcome, but as an opportunity for understanding and coexistence.

05. A Tidying Consultant who Heals the Heart
마음을 치유하는 정리 컨설턴트
#TidyingConsultant #HoardingHouse #CompulsiveHoarder
#Housing challenges of care leavers #Tidying up in the context of poverty
More and more people are finding it difficult to keep their spaces organized. Those struggling with issues such as elderly isolation, basic welfare dependence, lack of education, and youth unemployment often fail to distinguish their identity from their possessions, relying on clutter to get through each day. Since tidying is deeply connected to mental well-being, addressing this issue cannot be purely materialistic. By organizing the homes of welfare recipients living in small rooms and young adults transitioning out of orphanages, this episode highlights the necessity of tidying education while also sharing valuable tips for decluttering effectively.

There's No Bad Dog세상에 나쁜 개는 없다 (EBS 1TV)

#Raising awareness about companion animal culture# Coexistence #Animal Rescue
There's No Bad Dog" is a popular South Korean television program that focuses on transforming the behavior of problematic dogs and educating their owners.
The show, led by renowned dog trainer, seeks to challenge the misconception that certain dogs are inherently "bad." "There Are No Bad Dogs" This show emphasizes the importance of understanding, patience, and proper training, ultimately fostering better relationships between dogs and their owners.
This program, in its early stages, has significantly raised awareness about pet culture and education, which were not yet well-established in South Korea. Because of this, I expanded the focus beyond just addressing the problematic behaviors of dogs and the incorrect training methods of their owners. I also highlighted serious issues such as the alarming number of abandoned pets in Korea, as well as efforts around rescuing stray animals, providing temporary foster care, and facilitating adoptions.

#UrbanRenewal #StrayDogs #AbandonedDogs #Rescue #Solidarity #Foster #Adoption
In a redevelopment area's abandoned house, there were five siblings and Kkam-dol left behind. One by one, the siblings disappeared, leaving Kkam-dol alone. While the residents of Iksan are looking out for Kkam-dol, life on the streets remains precarious. The Sena Dog production team and the local community decide to rescue Kkam-dol! Through this episode, we shed light on the severity of the stray dog problem in Korea, particularly how rapid urban development contributes to animal abandonment. We also highlighted the poor conditions of government-run animal shelters. In Korea, there is a negative perception of large, black dogs, and it was anticipated that adopting them would take a long time. As the producer, I personally got involved in the rescue and temporary fostering of Kkamdori, and the efforts to find a family for Kkamdori deeply moved and resonated with many viewers.

In the scorching summer heat, with temperatures nearing 40°C, we received a report about a dog left tied up and abandoned deep in the mountains. Covered in ticks, pus, and matted fur, Harmony had been living in these conditions for three years. Her life was in danger every single day. We made the decision to rescue Harmony. In this episode, I addressed the still-common issue of dogs being kept tied up in Korea. I shed light on how ignorance can turn into a form of violence, and revealed the heartbreaking suffering endured by animals forced to live their entire lives on a chain.

In South Korea, where the aging population is rapidly increasing due to longer lifespans and low birth rates, there is a mismatch between the high number of elderly people and the lack of a suitable medical system for them. Seniors' Syndrome is characterized by the simultaneous occurrence of various physical and psychological ailments. When elderly individuals receive prescriptions from different specialists, they often end up taking dozens of medications, leading to further side effects and health issues. The program addresses the treatment of a man suffering from family loss, childhood trauma, and severe physical illnesses using an integrated system called 'Geriatrics.' It proposes a new medical system based on collaboration rather than individual survival.

03. My Journey to Overcoming Acid Reflux 역류성식도염 해방일지
#AcidReflux #LifestyleChanges #DiverseCases #BuildingEmpathy #SimpleSolutions
Acid reflux disease, often referred to as a "national illness" in Korea, affects a significant number of people. That’s why establishing a sense of empathy early in the program was crucial. Since symptoms vary greatly from person to person and the solutions are quite ordinary—like eating slowly or avoiding lying down right after meals—visualizing these methods effectively was key. We focused on creating relatable and easy-to-understand visual elements such as keeping a food diary, reorganizing daily routines, using a timer during meals, and expressing pain through hashtags. These elements helped viewers easily grasp, empathize with, and follow the content, ultimately leading to strong viewership ratings.

Coding Life하상욱의 슬기로운 코딩 생활 (EBS 2TV)
#ComputationalThinking #SoftwareEducation #ElementarySoftware #Entry #microbit #10minuteTutorial
“Hasangwook’s Wise Coding Life” is a program where Hasangwook, a popular social media poet, learns coding from Kim Seulgi, an elementary school teacher who has been coding for over 10 years.
Using block-based coding languages like Entry and MakeCode, along with the physical computing device Micro:bit, they create fun and quirky inventions
—such as a machine that slaps you when your dad snores, an EDM music maker coded with sound effects, and a diet device that sounds an alarm when you lift your spoon more than 30 times.
Unlike traditional coding education programs that primarily target children, this show is designed to be enjoyable and accessible for adults as well, making coding feel fun and approachable for everyone.
Roles : Planning / Chief Producer / ItemResearch / Casting
Creating a Game Joystick Using an Accelerometer Sensor
/ Deep Sleep Alarm to Stop Snoring
/Making a Humidifier Using a Humidity Sensor for My Precious Skin
/ Creating a Fruit I-nstrument
/ Making a Spoon for Dieting Counting Moving a Spoon
/ Exercise Counting Device, and more.
When I was a student, I aimed for an engineering major and studied languages like C, HTML, Visual C++, etc. Even though I majored in psychology, the software-oriented thinking I acquired during that time had greatly aided in this program planning and item selection.
Selecting items, recruiting presenters (Elementary school teacher Kim Seul-gi, digital poet Ha Sang-wook),
and then commissioned an external production company for execution.
This experience provided a unique opportunity to engage in managing aspects such as soliciting bids, selection processes, and executing production budgets.
